Groups in Gmail?

When I see the similarities between Gmail and the beta of Google Groups 2, I wonder how long we will have to wait before being able to read and post to groups from Gmail…

    You know, you can already post to Google Groups 1 from GMail: mail2news-YYYYMMDD-alt.test@anon.lcs.mit.edu . Just replace YYYYMMDD with today’s date, and alt.test with the desired newsgroup. More info: http://mentalhealth.about.com/library/weekly/aa081197.htm

    It occurs to me that email is the glue of the web. You can use it to simultaneously send a message to (1) your friends (2) a Usenet group (3) your Blogger blog
